Club Merchandise Buyer

Location: Edwards, CO

The Sonnenalp Golf Club is looking for a Full-Time Year Round Club Merchandise Buyer. Housing is available for this position.

Wage Range: $25-$28 / hr based on experience, plus performance-based commission

Typical Schedule: 5 days per week, Full-time year round

Primary Purpose of Position

As the Club Merchandise Buyer, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of retail goods at the Sonnenalp Club Golf Shop. Your duties will include ordering, receiving, pricing, stocking, and invoicing merchandise. You will also provide exceptional customer service by assisting guests with tee-time check-ins, recommending appropriate attire and footwear, and cross-selling other resort services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management:
    • Efficiently manage inventory levels by following established ordering, receiving, pricing, stocking, and invoicing procedures.
    • Utilize point-of-sale systems to track inventory and sales data.
    • Maintain accurate records of soft goods inventory and submit monthly reports to the Accounting Department.
  • Purchasing and Budgeting:
    • Develop and manage the soft goods purchasing plan within budget constraints.
    • Negotiate favorable terms with vendors to maximize profit margins.
    • Monitor and maintain appropriate margins on soft goods and special-order items.
  • Merchandising:
    • Ensure the Golf Shop maintains a visually appealing and organized appearance.
    • Rotate inventory and change displays regularly.
    • Promote soft goods through special sales, newsletters, and hotel outlets.
  • Customer Service:
    • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting guests with tee-time check-ins, recommending products, and cross-selling other resort services.
    • Educate staff on all soft goods inventory.
  • Operations:
    • Assist with tournament operations, including weekly member events, group outings, and club-sponsored events.
    • Contribute to accounting procedures within the Golf Shop.
    • Provide additional services to members and guests, such as special orders, gift-wrapping, and shipping.
    • Maintain a clean and organized workspace in both the shop and back office.
  • Sales:
    • Actively promote the sale of hard goods, soft goods, and special orders.

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 4- year College degree preferred
  • Minimum 1 year retail experience to include purchasing
  • Previous Golf merchandising experience preferred.

Special Skills/Equipment

  • POS experience required
  • Strong computer skills
  • Exceptional guest service skills

  • The employee is permitted to wear their own golf casual work attire and is responsible for having it cleaned, pressed and properly fit. Shoes must be cleaned and visible nametag on right chest.
